Obama got a gentlemans "C"--for charismatic, caring, concerned, conscientious, capable, cordial, candid, collegial, creative, conscious and connecting

Palin Beauty Queen Charms the World

Charm the world? Not all of it. Not a lot of us and not a lot of the thinking people around the planet admire Sarah Palin. Everyone from the head of International Newsweek to Deepak Chopra are sounding alarms. But Sarah Palin made her appearance at the United Nations so she could claim foreign policy experience because just living next door to Russia wasn't quite enough for some people. The head of the Pakistani delegation was charmed and remarked quite loudly, "Well, I can see why the American people are in love with you." Palin got attention, for sure, but not for brains, just beauty. I can think of a lot of my women friends that could have fit the bill that day. Many of them had more foreign policy experience than living next door to a foreign country too. But they didn't run for the beauty contest that apparently Palin finally won at the United Nations.

Taxpayer Pays While Big Company Continues Charade

Washington Mutual, on the verge of collapse and then some, still sends advertisements to my house. Junk mail, the kind we all get regularly. That costs them a bundle to get out en masse. Then I am browsing around the Internet, and what do you know? More Washington Mutual ads. Now I don't know about you, but my small business can't afford a significantly sized ad on a major Internet site nor can most of us afford to send out huge mass mailings, especially when we're going under. But Washington Mutual can, and likely some of those other big boys who have taken us to those proverbial cleaners where our pockets have been shaken down. That, it appears, will continue to happen at the taxpayer expense. No wonder the average citizen is suspicious about big business and angry with the legislators!

Whose Parade is Being Rained On Now

Prior to Barack Obama's speech at Invesco Field the final night of the Democratic Convention Reverend James Dobson prayed that it would rain and interrupt Obama's great moment. But that didn't happen. Since then Hurricane Goustav almost cancelled the Republican Convention and now a storm (Ike) named for a Republican President is about to hit the State of Texas, home of the current Republican President, George Bush.

9/11: Who Should We Memorialize?

Today we remember the victims of 9/11, and well we should. We should also memorialize the more than 3000 of our soldiers killed in a war that had nothing to do with it. And the thousands and thousands of civilian victims in a country torn by war. And the thousands of our men who will come marching home with serious problems. And the decades it will take to shovel out of the economic and social problems we now face because of all of that.

McCain vs Obama: Rich Guys Pay No Taxes

Barack Obama is rich because he did it the old fashioned way. McCain is rich because he married money. With Barack Obama's plan, Obama will have to pay taxes himself, just like the rest of us. McCain will get a tax break like the corporations who support his candidacy. Now who is putting America first?

Where's Dick Cheney?

We haven't seen Cheney in awhile. I think I know why. He doesn't need to be while he's bought John McCain and wrapped him up to control him in the White House. He's certainly been part of the mastermind team that has McCain working both sides of the Republican strategy, talking change and being part of that old team of guys who want to win any way they can.

While McCain has remarked he's been 90% with Bush, he's been 100% in 2008, at a time when Bush has been at his most unpopular. He also wasn't doing well there for awhile and had to go to the Bush group to go up against Barack Obama.

So where's Cheney. He's back there pulling the strings.
